The mission of Seed and Harvest is to provide spiritual leadership designed to help community members prosper in their personal and business lives. In line with this vision, local business owner Tony Smith and brother Roger Smith have developed the Seed and Harvest Vision Scholarship Fund based upon the biblical principal found at Proverbs 29:18.

The Seed and Harvest Vision Scholarship specifically targets youth who are under 18 and have the goal of attending college or technical school; and anyone over 18 that has graduated high school or received their GED and desires to continue their education.

The scholarship was established for graduates or graduating seniors from any public or private school within the state of Michigan and the Chicago, Illinois area who seek educational opportunities beyond high school with a special emphasis on business or community related careers which could include but are not limited to such careers as communications, graphic design, art, marketing, English, journalism, history, etc.

The scholarship fund criteria are as follows: demonstrate potential to succeed in college curriculum to be pursued and a 2.0 GPA or higher. Youth and Adult applicants must also share an effort in building the fund for future recipients. Scholarship applications may be obtained through the greater Kalamazoo private and public schools and counseling offices, select schools in Chicago, Il., select community locations and online at www.SeedandHarvest.biz.

Applications will be accepted September 15th through February 15th each year. Awards are determined by April 15th of each year by committee. A Scholarship Awards Reception will be held in May of each year to give students their awards.

All scholarship applicants will be given the opportunity to receive Scholarship Awards ranging from $250.00 to $1,000.00. Youth and Adults interested in being a Seed and Harvest Scholarship Recipient will be given the opportunity also to participate in building the fund for future recipients. This enables them to learn the power of reciprocity and giving back to others in the community.

Applicants are required to attend at least one meeting to be held on the last Thursday of each month at the Seed and Harvest offices. Applicants will be given additional information about the scholarship criteria at this time.

By participating in the Seed and Harvest network, which is a Christian network that provides real time business leads, a portion of the business proceeds will be donated to the Scholarship Fund.
